Meet Melissa Cano – Owner & Founder of Melissa’s Prestigious Pawz

Hi, I’m Melissa Cano, and I’m the proud owner and founder of Melissa’s Prestigious Pawz. My journey into the pet care world is one deeply rooted in passion, purpose, and a lot of faith.

I earned my degree in Business Marketing from the University of North Texas and spent over a decade in the pharmaceutical industry, where I was blessed to work in the Central Nervous System division and helped launch a groundbreaking antidepressant. While I loved the science and the impact we made, my true calling was always animals.

My love for dogs began with showing, breeding, and eventually judging. But after a difficult personal experience involving a burn injury to my face, my life took a different turn. That moment became a turning point where I leaned into my faith and followed the path God was opening for me.

I began studying animal behavior more deeply and recognized how crucial nutrition is to a dog’s well-being. I was fortunate to train with Cesar Millan, gaining a deeper understanding of the canine mind, which only strengthened my passion to help dogs and their families.

What started as part-time training and boarding eventually became a full-time calling. When my pharmaceutical career came to an end due to a drug going generic, I saw it as divine timing. God opened the door for me to start Melissa’s Prestigious Pawz, and I haven’t looked back since.

My mission is to not only provide high-quality grooming, boarding, training, and daycare services—but also to educate the community on animal behavior, the importance of proper nutrition, and the power of God’s guidance. I am truly blessed to do what I love every day, and I hope to inspire others to follow their purpose too.
